Looking forward to Monday, Oct. 19th 6:30 PM Pacific Time to celebrate the legacy of the Rebellious Miss Breed, the San Diego librarian who was a lifeline to her "children" the young Japanese Americans who were imprisoned for more than three years during WWII, although they had done nothing wrong...except having the face of the enemy. I'll be talking about my book, Dear Miss Breed the stories her children shared with me.
You can register in advance at the library's website

I like how the article shares the story of Clara Breed and how she stayed kind and supportive to Japanese American children during a very unfair time in history. It really shows how one person can quietly make a big difference. I remember reading something similar in class and feeling shocked, and I even used take my online exam during a stressful week when I was already behind on history work. It made me think about how courage and empathy matter more than fear in difficult situations.
